How long has WinDCRadio.com been in business?
It will be our 8th anniversary coming up this year.

What motivated you to start the station?
I started WinDCRadio.com from all of the independent artists that were trying to get on Go-Go Radio. I came in to handle the programming of Go-Go Radio and as of January 15th it will be 10 years. We created Go-Go Radio strictly for the Go-Go culture. Go-Go Radio had become so big and popular that   everyone in the area was trying to get an interview. I had some programming that suited the independent artist the best, which was my morning show, so I started the entire radio station from that content. Initially, we called the radio station Ryze Radio, but due to some bad business with some of the people I had managing the station I had to make some changes. Once that happened my partners and I decided to change the stations name. The name WinDC actually came from a good friend of mine, Kevin Blackmen. He used to do parties called WinDC. He worked in the studio across from us and after some conversations we agreed on calling the station WinDCRadio. The name WinDC is really about the train of thought we wanted people to have that were involved in the station. We wanted people to have a winning attitude and that’s where we progressed from.

What has been some of the obstacles you’ve had to overcome to stay in the game so long?
The main obstacle has been the people. Sometimes as Black folks we are our own worst enemy. If we would work together, this could be a lot easier of a road. One thing that no one can ever say about me is that I’m a cruddy dude. If I eat, everybody eats. Matter of fact, sometimes I’ll let everybody else eat before me so I can make sure the ship keeps moving. I believe that’s what leadership is all about.
