WRAPture, a temporary public art project created through a series of sari fabrication workshops

Monica Jahan Bose partners with the Anacostia Arts Center, We Act Radio, members of the community in Washington, DC and Katakhali Village, Bangladesh to present WRAPture, a temporary public art project created through a series of sari fabrication workshops.  WRAPture will wrap or drape five buildings in Anacostia with massive colorful cotton fabric saris from Bangladesh covered with printmaking and writing about climate change by residents of Anacostia and Katakhali Village, Bangladesh.
Installation hubs: Anacostia Arts Center (1231 Good Hope Rd SE, Washington DC) and We Act Radio (1918 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue).
Day 1: Thursday, April 4 — Unveiling and Reception
  • The first day of the WRAPture installation. Viewing hours 3-8 pm.  During viewing hours, Monica Jahan Bose and WRAPture participants will be continuously on site to speak to visitors.
  • From 3-5 pm, Slideshow in Anacostia Arts Center’s Black Box Theatre, featuring the sari workshops in Washington DC and Bangladesh.
  • From 6-8 pm, Dedication and Reception at We Act Radio.
